On Tuesday, February 4, Ventura County Public Health issued an updated advisory for schools to appropriately respond to concerns about the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV). The updated advisory is based on the publication of new guidelines from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

This website will be updated with any new information the Hueneme Elementary School District has received. Here you will find copies of the updates we are sending to our HESD Community and suggested public resources for more in-depth information. HESD is monitoring the evolving situation regarding Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in cooperation with Ventura County Public Health (Public Health) and Ventura County Office of Education (VCOE). The national Centers for Disease Control (CDC) states that the risk of contracting COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus 2019) remains low for Americans at this time. Based on advice from Public Health we are making preparations for the possible spread of the virus. This includes keeping in contact with our local public agencies who provide us with current information and updates. We also have an internal district COVID-19 Planning Team that is watching developments and meets as necessary to adjust our plans. All HESD schools will be postponing large group events, such as spring open houses, family movie nights, etc. Assemblies and field trips will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
